There are no translations available. World Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims - events by PATVORA
The PATVORA Organisation’s 2009 World Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims has been designed to provide an opportunity for road users in five selected states of Nigeria to pay tribute to the victims of road crash. Memorial registers would be made available at the various States’ House of Assembly for the public to honour crash victims. Specifically, PATVORA volunteers and road users in Delta, Edo, Kano, Enugu and Oyo states would use the occasion to pay tribute to the many unfortunate victims of road crashes by signing a petition to their respective representatives at the State House of Assembly to take all possible actions to prevent road deaths. Also, PATVORA Volunteer Team (PVT) regional co-ordinators in each of the states would use the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to elimination of preventable road deaths especially those associated to delayed response of emergency services. As such, Members and volunteers of PATVORA would offer free first aid training to road users in three major commercial motor parks and five schools on each state, thereby promoting the goals of 2007 Accra Declaration for a National first aid policy in African countries.
In Asaba, Delta State Capital, the headquarters of PATVORA Research Centre, activities of the Day of Remembrance for road crash victims will be conducted by about 500 Members and volunteers of the PATVORA Organisation. To honour the memory of road crash victims, two major events would be conducted.
Also, 8 journalists representing various media would make open pledges to continue advancing the Day of Remembrance for road crash and road safety related issues.
