US Congress passes resolution in respect of World Day of Remembrance in 2007

On July 16, the House of Representatives unanimously passed House Concurrent Resolution 87 (H. Con. Res. 87), supporting the goals and ideals of a world day of remembrance for road crash victims and their families. The resolution designates the third Sunday of November as a World Remembrance Day for Road Crash Victims and their Families.

ASIRT (Association for Safe International Road Travel) issued invitations to the events organized by them:

Capitol Hill Lunch Briefing on Tuesday, November 13 – from 11:30-1pm – Rayburn House Office Building – Room 2255

Marilena Amoni, Associate Administrator for Research & Program Development, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will talk about the role of NHTSA as the lead road traffic safety agency in the U.S. and the importance of increasing awareness of global road safety issues by exchanging best practices between regulators worldwide and by implementing sustainable road safety campaigns and initiatives in addressing the global health crisis of road traffic crashes;

Rochelle Sobel, ASIRT President will discuss the progress of efforts to increase awareness of global road safety issues following the passage of historic resolutions by the U.N. (United Nations General Assembly Resolution 60/5) and U.S. Congress (H. Con. Res. 87 and S. Con. Res. 39) establishing the third Sunday of November as an annual World Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims and their Families (to be observed on November 18, 2007).
